A poppy for remembrance

A wonderful November project shared with us by SP.

I just thought I'd share this blog post with you all - in case anyone's feeling ambitious about making their own poppy for Remembrance Day. Looks like a nice, fast knit and if you don't fancy poppies you could easily do it up in other colours.

Vancouver knitting workshop: Nov.11-13, 2011

Hello knitters,

Just want to let you know the West Coast Knitters Guild has organized a workshop [in Vancouver] with Donna Druchunas, a well known knitting instructor and writer. Various types of classes will be held over 3 days during the long weekend in November ~ Nov.11-13, 2011.

I was not able to attach the information document due to its size (it's only 5 pages, but it bounced the e-mail). I have a copy at my desk and will send it to anyone that's interested. You can also try to access it through the West Coast Knitters Guild website: http://westcoastknitters.org/

To find out more about Donna - here is a link to her website:
http://sheeptoshawl.com/about-donna/about-my-knitting/

There is an early bird registration discount until July 5th.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks, EM

Hi,

FYI: I just saw this on Ravelry - Terminal City Yarn Wranglers group. Apologies to those of you who may already have seen it:

[To see link you need to sign on a Ravelry member (it’s free) http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/terminal-city-yarn-wranglers/1700895/1-25 ]

"A heads up that on Facebook there is a new group called UBC Knit @ Night … “A public, relaxed, knitting group that meets after 5:00pm on UBC Campus. Students, employees, Point Grey community members all welcome; please invite your friends! All skill levels welcome, including those who want to learn. Locations and evening times will vary.”

Our first gathering is this Thursday, the 16th, at Bean Around the World Cafe at the Old Barn Community Centre from 5-7 (they close at 7:00).

They serve dinner, beer, treats, and coffee/tea! Come get your stitch-n-bitch on!!! I’ll have some practice yarn and needles for those new to knitting! I’m going to reserve an area, so PM if you are planning to come by Wednesday please.

Address:

The Old Barn Community Centre
6308 Thunderbird Blvd.
Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z4
UBC Campus

Thanks and hope to see some of you there and on the Facebook group!"

If you aren't on Ravelry and are interested in going let me know and I'll PM the poster on your behalf ;-))
